Something new. Photos. I'll try to post a photo of myself every once in a while. Perhaps once a week. Perhaps more, perhaps less. Just to see.

Okay, maybe two photos sometimes. I couldn't decide.

March 1, 2010

The beginning of the third month already. Too much has happened since my last post. I've not been good at keeping this up.

In short. Elora turned three. We had a big party. Atti is growing up and maturing before my very eyes. Elora can write her name now (as can Atticus, extremely well). Dante is now in Yr 4/5 and doing Yr 5 maths and loving it.

Wow.

Also, I made a quilt. And party bags.

Monday, 15 February 2010

All is right with the world today. I am smiling and the kids are being cooperative.

Sunday, 14 February 2010

Year of the Tiger. Dan's year! A relaxing day sorting out fabrics in my sewing room coupled with a quick trip to the shops with the kids.

Saturday, 13 February 2010

Chinese New Year's Eve. Big family dinner at my parents' place. Them, plus my brothers and their families, my father's sister + husband, my father's brother + partner, as well as his ex-wife (but still will always be my favourite Auntie), and one of my cousins and his family.

Spent the day frantically cleaning the house. Meant to sweep (or vacuum in modern times, I guess) the bad luck away.

Friday, 12 February 2010

Friday at last. Quilt sent off to Vancouver. Not sure if it will get there in time. Fingers crossed that it will get there in time.

Thursday, 11 February 2010

It's done! Finished quilting! Made the binding and sewed it on. It looks great! I'm so happy.

Also, my dept at work changed names. And I only got my business cards two days ago. Spent a good chunk of the day doing name change stuff on the website. Head of School was very happy. Yay!

Wednesday, 10 February 2010

Missed my craft get-together tonight to work on the quilt but didn't in the end. Gave a talk to the new Honours students today at work. 30 new kids on the block.

Tuesday, 9 February 2010

Quilt, quilt, quilt. Got painters tape. In the end it was no good - NOT sticky enough and kept moving. Ended up using the kids' masking tape.

Monday, 8 February 2010

Still quilting. Backing pieced. Label sewn on. Quilt basted. First few lines of quilting done. Not so good. Need painters tape to mark the lines.

Sunday, 7 February 2010

Elora's birthday party invitations made. Used a pamphlet template in Pages. Quilt label embroidered. Quilt top sewn together. Binding fabric chosen and bought. Quilt backing ready to be pieced. Late night grocery shop done.

Saturday, 6 February 2010

Still quilting. The blocks are all done. Trimmed and squared up. Ready to piece together into the quilt top.

Friday, 5 February 2010

Day off from work and kids! Spent the day quilting. Started a new project. Very happy with its progress.

Thursday, 4 February 2010

Day at home, just me and Elora. Spent the afternoon painting. And chatting. She talks a lot!

Wednesday, 3 February 2010

P&C meeting at school this evening. Went back to work afterwards to work on the website. It was nice being there so late, since I finished work more than 5 hours earlier. Got home very late though.

Tuesday, 2 February 2010

Tax done for another financial year (2008-09)... Hooray for a new accountant who gets us a good return!

Monday, 1 February 2010

I'm now on the PR Committee at work. It feels nice to be involved again.

Sunday, 31 January 2010

Friday: school league table stress out.

Saturday: mowed the front yard. Took Elora to her first ballet lesson! She didn't participate but was happy to watch. Took Atti and Elora to a birthday party at Sydney Park late afternoon (5pm! So late for 5 year olds!) - it was nice and relaxed and not hot.

Sunday: finished reading the first Percy Jackson book.

Thursday, 28 January 2010

Wednesday: tennis and swimming (for the boys) started again. Me: non event.

Thursday: BIG DAY. Became the mother of a 5 year old! Who started Kindergarten!
And we had gelato for afternoon tea on the way home.

Tuesday, 26 January 2010

Australia Day:

Ran and walked approx. 10km this morning then came home, cleaned up the backyard and mowed it.
Hosted lunch for 25 people, 24 of whom sang Happy Birthday to the other. Atti turns 5 in two days.

Monday, 25 January 2010

So unhappy and tired tonight. Me and all in this house. Proof that I need this happiness project.

Today's achievement: consumerism. Bought some nice tops from a shop recommended by Dan's sister. Bought food for Atti's b'day bbq tomorrow.

Yesterday: helped Bec buy Elora's flowergirl dress (and got her a nice pair of red leather Maryjanes whilst there).

Saturday: some ironing and packing of new wardrobe.

Friday: added fish and plants to my fishtank at work.

Thursday: went to Gosford with the folks and the kids to visit rellies (and brought back some goldfish (comets and a fantail) and mollies&guppies.

Wednesday, 20 January 2010

Today I set up my fish tank at work. It's only been three years!

A new beginning

I started this journal because the days were flying by too quickly and it was making me stressed and unhappy. The idea, taken from The Happiness Project, seemed like fun.

It seems that I lasted about a month doing it. Really? I am quite amazed that I didn't stick with it for longer, although the Hive journal is still going strong, perhaps not as strongly as at the beginning, but it's still there and that makes me happy.

Of late the stress and unhappiness has been creeping back into my life... and the start of the new year has triggered something in me, some sort of drive to reorganise my life and to unclutter - my house and my brain!

So I hope I will stick to the journal this time. I approach it with a different idea in mind. Not just tracking my days, but tracking my achievements. Whether it be work, home, parenting, craft-related. There must be more to my life than just the usual drudgery. But sometimes there is even satisfaction in that. So I will write what I've achieved each day. Keep it as a positive reminder that I CAN be a productive person. No matter how little a thing.
